TASC Calls

Early April 2011 the decision to reserve 5,25 million Euro for TASC is taken by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.   

Provisional dates and deadlines

On 12 April 2012,  full proposals are expected for TA-Biomass. Full proposals for TA-Low Energy Routes and TA-Syngas were expected in January 2012.

  • The first call is the TA-COAST call with a budget of ca. M€ 6.8 (government subsidy plus matching cash and in-kind contributions from private partners). Nine projects have been granted.
  • The calls for TA-Syngas and TA-Low Energy Routes had a deadline for submission of full proposals at 17 January 2012. Each of these calls has a budget of almost M€ 3. The proposals are now assessed.
  • The deadline for the submission of  full proposals in the TA-Biomass is 12 April 2012. The budget for this call is almost M€ 3.                

Criteria

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants from the knowledge institutes that will execute the research, must be allowed to apply at NWO (see ‘general terms and conditions of NWO grants').
  • Companies must fund 33,3% of the project budgets applied for.
  • At least two companies should be involved in a project and financially contribute to it.
  • Companies should have R&D-activities in the Netherlands. Foreign companies without R&D activities in the Netherlands can participate additionally. Directive is that valorization of knowledge should take place in the Netherlands.

Evaluation criteria

  • Fit with the subjects of the Technology Areas .
  • Scientific quality and innovation (incl. (inter) national position of the research).
  • Perspectives on valorization.

Height of the subsidies

  • Applications are sized at least appr. k€ 300 (1 researcher) and maximally ca. M€ 1-1,5 (4 to 5 researchers).
  • Subsidy can be applied for personnel with a temporary appointment (PhD students, postdocs, technicians), bench fee, and for (specifically in the project required) instruments.
  • Personnel will be remunerated according to the NWO / VSNU tariffs.
  • Private parties contribute on a project basis to the research costs. This contribution will be added to the Government funding and made available via the ACTS-office.
  • For max. 30% of the required industrial contribution (and for max. 66,6% for SME’s), private parties are allowed to contribute in kind personnel and/or materials / instruments in a project.
  • These contributions/efforts must a an integral part of the project budgets.

IPR

Gained results will be jointly owned by the parties that have contributed to those results. In case of a patentable result, all project parties have the first right to acquire these results against a realistic and market conform financial compensation to the benefit of the research in TASC. The research costs made to gain the results minus the relative contribution of the involved industrial party to these costs will be directive for the height of the compensation.
